Suomi-Seura has started to process funding applications. Grants will be paid by the end of June.
The decisions of the Finnish Expatriate Parliament (www.usp.fi) have been translated into Swedish and English, and will be printed soon. They will be presented to Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen, who will distribute them to the ministers for comments. FEP Speakers’ Council will meet April 15-16 in Helsinki.

Team Finland network started operations officially on Feb. 1, 2013. Its objective is to further Finland’s economic interests and image abroad. The network consists of 72 local teams. Their more specific goals are to further four closely related areas: International economic relations, increasing international activities for Finnish companies, foreign investment in Finland and the image of Finland.
Direct compensation of medication costs for Finnish retirees living in EU countries is expanding.
Applications for counry based training of language schools are now accepted.
Language school grants will be distributed only once a year in the fall. Application deadline is 30.9. Language school teacher training will take place on August 7-9, 2013.
Suomen Silta (Finland Bridge) will be published twice in digital format, namely in March and June.
Spanish language instruction – one or two week courses are offered in the spring 1.4 – 30.6 and in the fall 1.9 – 30.11 in Fuengirola, Spain.

A total of 21,264 residency permits were applied outside of EU and ETA countries. Most applications were for family reunification purposes, and the second most for educational reasons, followed by work. Most applicants were from Russian, followed by China and India. 93% of educational residency applicants were approved, compared to 30% of family reunification cases.

Book donations – Suomi-Seura ry. donates 20 Finnish books annually to all member clubs, as long as the club has a library, where members can borrow books. If at all possible, the books should be picked up to save mailing costs. Request forms available by asking.
